Mission Statement

Low Income Opportunities, Inc. will create REAL opportunities for young, low-income familiesto become more than self-sufficent, but to be able to live comfortably with-in their means.

LOI will provide low-income families with monetary means to pay for their education (after assisting them in obtaining financial aid). LIO will also provide assistance in childcare and in obtaining viable means of transportation to attend classes as well as improving the lives of these disadvantaged women, men, and their families. We want to help promote successful families, as well as being committed to building better financial futures for low-income families. Thus providing these families with, real economic securitiesthrough ducational opportunities.

LIO will be assisting these young families in becoming independent from the need to rely upon the department of social services. These families and their communities will benefit equally from donations to this foundation.

By doing this we will be strengthening family values, reducing poverty, and advancing human achievement

Criteria for Consideration

Criteria for Consideration
The Board will consider all applications for assistance provided the following criteria is met at a minimum:

    The applicant must have at least one child under the age of 18
    The applicant must not be involved in any illegal activity
    The applicant must submit to a criminal background check
    The applicant must sign a commitment contract stating they will repay the entire amount provided for their education if they do not complete the education program in which LIO provided payment.

Services

Initially, LIO will focus on providing the following services:

    Financial Assistance for Educational Programs (GED, Vocational Training, College Classes)
    Daycare expenses assistance (to assist the recipient in paying for daycare while attending classes)
    Transportation assistance (to assist in providing payment for transportation by taxi or public transportation to and from class)
    Emergency utility bill asistance (on an individual basis LIO may provide financial assistance to prevent utilities from being turned off)

Additional programs and services will be expanded when additional funding becomes available.

Founder's Bio
Diane Koontz is mother of three boys and the founder of Low Income Opportunities, Inc., a Non-Profit company whose goal is to help those families who are unable to better their situation in life because their family responsibilities have interrupted their educational journey. Diane is a firm believer that "the only way out of poverty is through education".
